Hi, I’m Amanda.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, supervised by Bryan Moffitt, LPC-S, providing counseling for adults and couples in the Austin area and telehealth throughout Texas. My work focuses on a struggle that can be surprisingly hard to put into words: knowing a behavior, relationship pattern, or way of coping isn’t working for you, and finding yourself repeating it anyway.
Maybe you keep ending up in the same kinds of relationships. You avoid things until they become bigger problems. You overthink, shut down, people-please, procrastinate, self-sabotage, or react in ways you regret later. Maybe anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, or difficult life experiences have shaped behaviors that once helped you cope but now seem to be getting in your way.
That’s where my work tends to live.
Clinically, these can be described as maladaptive behaviors and patterns. I prefer to talk about them as the things you keep doing even though part of you knows they aren’t getting you where you want to go.
My approach to therapy is built around understanding why the pattern exists in the first place. Instead of simply telling you to think positively or stop doing something, we look underneath the behavior. What triggers it? What are you trying to protect yourself from? What thoughts and emotions keep the cycle going? And, most importantly, what can you begin doing differently?
Before becoming a counselor, I served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. I later made a major career change and earned my graduate education in counseling from Liberty University. That path gave me firsthand experience with transition, reinvention, and what it means to build a different direction for your life.
Today, I work with adults and couples dealing with self-sabotage, repeating patterns, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, stress, burnout, life transitions, avoidance, overthinking, and unhealthy coping behaviors. I also provide LGBTQ+ affirming counseling and believe therapy should be a place where you can examine yourself honestly without having to defend who you are.
I’m not interested in giving you generic advice you could find online. Therapy with me is about getting curious about what drives you, recognizing the patterns you may not be able to see from inside them, and developing healthier ways to respond.
Because understanding yourself isn’t the end goal.
Understanding yourself is how you start changing what happens next.
